Bare root
Bare root A seasonal planting term to describe a plant that has been field grown rather than pot plant November – March. Stock should never have the chance to dry out. Nurserymen supply white bags tied tight that do not soak up the heat and dry the roots. Another packing material is Hessian, when dampened will slow down the drying out. Heal bare root plants into a trench if they are to be in bags more than 2-3 days.
