Proposal
It was discussed with the local planning
authority that creating a bund with dense planting would act as a screen
and sound buffer, therefore a mix of nursing crops such as Willow and
Birch were suggested to give the slower growing varieties a foothold
on this exposed site. The design has taken into account the height
of vehicles being parked, the noise of their engines and the privacy
of the neighbours. The planting is viewed from all angles, the car
park, the walkway and the service track. The plant quantities have
taken into account that in 15-20 years the woodland screening will
need to be thinned. The style is one of bands of planting, groups of
same species which taper into other varieties.
